About Horizons Computer Systems

Horizons Computer Systems, Inc. was established in the mid-1980’s to sell custom-built and pre-built computers to individuals, businesses and schools. It was known then as Horizons Computer Systems Design. In 1994 the owner and founder decided to return to her previous career and sold the business to two employees: Don Gee of Hamilton and Bill Gelhaar of Carthage, Illinois. They incorporated it and continued to operate it until the end of 2003 when they merged with Computing Made Easy where they continue where they continue to use their technical and analytic skills.

Don Staff Bill

 

Bill

Bill has a range of education and experience including Physics degrees from Knox College and the University of Chicago, three years in the Army in Research and Development and several years in the family grain and feed business. 

He also spent several years with Xerox in their mainframe computer division (when they still had one – note: he had nothing to do with their getting out of that aspect of their business). He started in programming and was the Manager of Software Services when he left.

The most recent 10 years he has been part of Horizons Computer Systems, handling or supervising on-site service and training as well as network installation and setup.

Don

Don, retired from the Navy as a Chief Electronics Technician, handles or supervises most of our in-house service and upgrade work. He also checks out new systems as they arrive and sets up and delivers systems for which that service is requested. 

His extensive experience and analytical skills give our customers a strong resource for solving computer problems.

His work with our customers in helping them assess their needs is especially helpful in assuring that they have a system which adequately meets those needs.

Staff

As part of Horizons Computer Systems, Sandy Hamman worked with our customers and suppliers, giving direction, answering questions and trying to be as helpful as possible. She was successful at keeping our facility and office running smoothly and keeping us all on schedule. 

Other members of our team included affiliates and subcontractors with the skills, knowledge and equipment needed for specific projects.
